Adding Products in Zencart

We assume that you have already logged into Zen Cart.
Click on the Catalog link found on the main menu as shown below..

Click on the Categories /Products link as shown above.
Select a category for your new product. Remember you cannot add a new product, if you have not already created a new category, because every new product has to be linked to a category.

Then click on new product, you will have to specify if the product is currently in “stock” or “out of stock” as shown below.

You can specify a date when it will be available, if left blank, it is currently available.

You may also optionally specify the manufacturer. You would, of course, have to have already setup the manufacturer in the manufacturer list.

Give the new product a name and continue to configure the new product to indicate if the product is Free, Call for Price  and Product Priced by Attributes.

If the product is a taxable item, you  will have to specify it in the Tax class as shown above.

Enter the Pre Tax Price of the product  where it says Products Price (Net)

Enter the Post Tax Price of the product where it says Products Price (Gross)

Enter a full product description, this will display on the product page, you may use HTML code too.

Enter the Quantity in which this product is typically sold.

If you have a Product model number enter it.

Browse your hard drive for a full size image of the product as shown below.

you can optionally enter an URL if you will be externally linking to a product image as shown below.

If you will calculate shipping charges by product weight, enter the product’s unit weight.

Sort order will indicate the order in which products are displayed on the category product page.

You can see a preview before you add the product to your store by clicking on the preview button found on the right bottom of the page.

When clicked on preview, you will get a message which says “Success: File upload saved successfully” then click on the insert button found on the right bottom of page.

The new product has been successfully created. Let’s take a look at our store to see if has been added.
You can see it on the left side menu under the categories you created, click on the product item you created, your product will be displayed.
Zen Cart automatically creates a thumbnail image for display in the product page, when you click on it, it displays the full size image uploaded earlier.
